SPECIAL STEEL FOUNDRY

From 0.1 to 120 kg: the range and what defines it

The short answer: CYM Materiales casts parts from 0.1 up to 120 kg. That range covers the vast majority of custom steel parts —from a small wear part to a medium structural component.

The range is set by the melting capacity and the molding system. The steel is melted in induction furnaces and molded in resin sand, a flexible process that adapts to each geometry. The upper limit responds to pouring and part handling; at the small end, even the smallest parts are cast with the same composition and control demands as the large ones.

Beyond weight, geometry is usually what matters most: resin-sand casting allows complex shapes, cavities and variable walls that would be hard to machine. Each part is made to measure from a drawing or a sample, in any of the steel families (carbon, alloy, stainless, heat-resistant and abrasion-resistant). If you are unsure whether your part fits the range, the technical team assesses it case by case.

WEIGHT IS ONE FACTOR, NOT THE ONLY ONE

Feasibility is assessed as a whole

Weight gives a first reference, but real feasibility also depends on the geometry, the alloy and the quantity. CYM Materiales assesses each requirement and confirms whether the part can be cast as needed —or proposes the best alternative.
