CH 2.5V vertical-pass plate shot blast machine with four blast wheels
This video shows a CYM CH 2.5V vertical-pass plate shot blast machine, installed at the plant of Cantoni, an Argentine tank and steel structure fabricator. It processes plates up to 2.5 m (98 in) wide, which travel upright through the cabinet on a roller conveyor.
The vertical layout takes less floor space than a horizontal line and makes plate handling with an overhead crane easier. The four blast wheels clean both faces of the plate in a single pass, and the processing speed can be set between 0.6 and 3 m/min (2 to 10 ft/min). The process is automatic and controlled from an HMI, with an ammeter for each wheel.
The machine runs steel shot or steel grit, and the dust collector keeps the process from contaminating the environment. The result is high output, a uniform finish and a low operating cost.
Blasting plate before cutting and welding pays off when the material spends a long time in fabrication or storage. That is why the CH 2.5V can be completed with an automatic paint booth and a drying oven to apply shop primer in line. It is used in oil, gas, mining, shipbuilding, agribusiness and steel structures.
