Sucker rods shot peening machine
BAR-SP LINE
Fatigue treatment for oil-well pumping rods
CYM Materiales designs and manufactures shot peening machines for sucker rods used in the oil and gas industry. The BAR1 and BAR2 machines process API sucker rods up to 30 ft long in diameters from 5/8" to 1½", inducing compressive residual stresses that significantly increase fatigue resistance in service, reducing rod failures in the well and extending service life. The machines are adaptable to shorter rods depending on project requirements.
The BAR1 machine is equipped with one centrifugal blast wheel and the BAR2 with two blast wheels in line, doubling production capacity. Rods are processed one at a time on a double-cone (devil) roller conveyor. Both models include turbine RPM control from the HMI with electric actuator for automatic positioning of the control box, abrasive flow regulation from the HMI and shot curtain formation system with differential pressure control.
With two BAR1 or BAR2 machines in line it is possible to perform double shot peening: the first machine works at high intensity and the second at low intensity, a process that maximizes compressive residual stresses on the rod surface. CYM Materiales complements the shot peening machines with complete rod handling systems — racks, conveyors and feeders — and integrated dip paint lines.
Applications
Uses and shot blasting processes
CYM Materiales BAR1 and BAR2 machines cover the main surface treatment processes for sucker rods: single shot peening, double shot peening in line, dip painting and integrated rod handling systems. The choice of model and configuration depends on production volume, required intensity level and integration with the customer's manufacturing line.

SHOT PEENING — BAR1 AND BAR2
- Continuous shot peening of API sucker rods up to 30 ft — diameters 5/8" to 1½"
- Rods advance one at a time on double-cone (devil) roller conveyor
- Turbine RPM intensity control from HMI with electric actuator
- Abrasive flow regulation and shot curtain system from HMI
- BAR1: one centrifugal blast wheel — BAR2: two centrifugal blast wheels in line
- Automatic abrasive loader included

DOUBLE SHOT PEENING — 2 MACHINES IN LINE
- Two BAR1 or BAR2 machines in line for double shot peening in a single pass
- First machine: high intensity — deep compressive stresses in the rod
- Second machine: low intensity — controlled final surface finish
- Maximizes compressive residual stresses on the rod surface
- Reference treatment for high-demand sucker rod manufacturers
- Flexible configuration: BAR1+BAR1, BAR2+BAR2 or BAR1+BAR2 per project

DIP PAINT LINE
- Immediately after shot peening, rods pass through the dip paint line
- A rotating star-wheel feeder meters the rods one at a time
- Each pocket of the star receives a rod, submerges it into the paint tank below and raises it on the exit side already coated
- Uniform coverage of the entire rod surface with controlled immersion time
- Integrable with BAR1 and BAR2 machines as a turnkey system

ROD HANDLING SYSTEMS
- Accumulation and transfer racks for rods up to 30 ft
- Double-cone roller conveyors designed for sucker rod handling
- Infeed feeders for the shot peening machine
- Adaptable to shorter rods per project
- All components integrated with BAR1 and BAR2 machines
- Complete system custom-engineered per project
