The exact blast room for every part, process and production volume
CYM Materiales designs and manufactures blast rooms for the surface treatment of parts that cannot be processed in automatic turbine blasting machines due to their size, geometry or complexity. Inside the blast room, one or more operators — or automatic nozzle manipulation systems — carry out the compressed air blasting process, enabling treatment of a wide variety of parts for coating and contaminant removal, surface preparation for painting and localised shot peening.
Each blast room design is defined by three independent variables: the abrasive recovery system (manual, mechanical or pneumatic), the operating mode (manual with operator or automatic with robot or nozzle manipulator) and the part movement system (overhead conveyor, rail-guided carts, rollers or other configurations per project). This combination of variables allows the exact blast room to be configured for each industry and production volume.
All CYM blast rooms incorporate an active Dead-Man safety system, internal abrasion-resistant lining, external LED lighting through sealed laminated glass panels, an integrated dust collector and an ARC abrasive purifier to maintain a constant working abrasive mix. The modular easy-assembly structure can be built using steel sheet panels, masonry or by integrating existing facilities.
Applications
Usses y procesos of shotblasting
CYM blast rooms adapt to a wide range of industries and parts. The ability to freely combine the recovery system, operating mode and part movement system allows configuring the exact blast room for each process — from simple low-volume installations to fully automated high-production lines.

- Localised shot peening with robot or automatic nozzle manipulator
Select the system
What do you need to blast? Find your machine
Selecting the abrasive recovery system is the first blast room design decision. It depends primarily on the type of abrasive used, production volume and the required level of automation. Pneumatic systems — both multi-hopper and portable vacuum — are the only options compatible with light abrasives.
| Selection criteria | MANUAL | MECHANICAL | PNEUMATIC - Multi-hopper | PNEUMATIC - Portable vacuum |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Abrasive type | Metallic or mineral | Heavy metallic | Light (glass beads, Al oxide, fine inox) | Metallic or mineral |
| Production volume | Low | High | Low / medium / high | Low / medium |
| Floor automation | No — operator sweeps | Yes — scrapers or screw conveyors | Sí — succión neumática automática | No — operario aspira con bocal |
| Operator intervention | Yes | No | No | Yes |
| Initial investment | Lower | Medium / high | Medium | Lower |
| Scalability | Yes — upgradeable | No | No | Yes — combinable with multi-hopper |
| Maintenance | Low | Medium — moving parts | Minimal — no moving parts | Low |
| Typical application | Simple rooms, low volume | High production, heavy abrasives | Light abrasives, fine stainless shot | Field work, tanks, shipyards, large rooms |
Operation mode
The operating mode defines whether the abrasive projection process is carried out by an operator inside the blast room or by an automatic nozzle manipulation system. Both modes are compatible with any of the abrasive recovery systems.
| CRITERION | MANUAL WITH OPERATOR | ROBOT / MANIPULATOR |
|---|---|---|
| Operator inside room | Sí | No |
| Part flexibility | High — any geometry | Medium — requires programming |
| Process repeatability | Variable | High — 100% reproducible |
| Localised shot peening | No | Yes |
| Investment | Lower | Higher |
| Ideal for | Varied parts, low/medium volume | Series production, shot peening |
