TUN 8x10 continuous spinner hanger shot blast tunnel with two 50 HP blast wheels
This video shows a CYM TUN 8x10 continuous-pass shot blast tunnel, with parts hanging on hooks and two 50 HP blast wheels, working at the Fundición Gatti plant in Pilar, Santa Fe, Argentina. The machine removes sand from and cleans castings of complex shape that, because of their size or geometry, cannot be tumbled and have to be processed hanging.
Parts are hung in the loading area and travel on the overhead conveyor into the cabinet. There, the two TR 381 blast wheels, set at different angles, cover the whole part with no blind spots. Each blast wheel has a vibration sensor, and the abrasive flow valve is regulated by electronic amperage control.
As in any foundry, the sand that comes in with the parts is the enemy of the abrasive: a magnetic separator removes it, and the cleaning system adjusts the abrasive curtain by itself. The abrasive is recirculated and topped up by an automatic loader. The cabinet has a double internal lining of manganese steel and high-chrome steel. The dust collector monitors cartridge saturation.
The process is automatic and needs no specialized labor.
