Blast room for trucks, trailers and large mobile equipment
This video shows a compressed-air blast room designed to prepare the surface of large mobile equipment: trucks, trailers and road, agricultural, mining and railway machinery. It was filmed at the plant of Hermann, an Argentine trailer manufacturer.
Blasting removes rust, old paint and contaminants, and leaves the anchor profile the coating needs. As the first caption says, the effectiveness of any protective coating depends on proper surface preparation.
The room has a modular construction and is sized for small or very large equipment. The operator works from radio-controlled mobile platforms, wearing CE-class positive-pressure protective equipment. The abrasive is projected from blast pots, and a dual system allows air blow-off and blasting with the same hose.
Abrasive recovery is 100% automatic: oscillating scrapers below floor level carry it to the recirculation system, where an air wash separator cleans it before reuse. The dust collector works in a closed circuit and keeps relative humidity low inside the room.
The result is a flexible blast room that adapts to different parts and processes.
